How to Reuse Mylar Balloons

Mylar balloons are sturdy balloons that usually take a long time to deflate on their own. And it seems wasteful to throw them away when you have used them for a short time. But did you know that you can reuse mylar party balloons? There is a small trick to deflating and reusing these balloons that I will show you below.

Find the hole where the helium was inserted – usually at a tag.

Then insert a straw into it.

Insert the straw into the balloon until you pass the sealed valve inside. It might take most of the straw length to reach it and push it open. You will feel resistance when the straw finds the valve but keep inserting the straw until you open it.

Then press on the balloon to force the helium out through the straw.

For large balloons that have two halves, you will need to press on the balloon to force the helium out of one side and then the other.

Press on the balloon until all the helium is out.

It helps to fold the balloon over on itself to force out the helium. Remove the straw and store the balloon. Then have it refilled with helium when you are ready to use it again.
