How to Fold Bat Napkins

Supplies

I used black 20-inch napkins (approximately 51 centimeters) because they have a larger working surface, and the finished shape will fit nicely across a dinner plate. Each bat uses one napkin. Optional: self-adhesive crystal rhinestones for eyes.

Eight Steps to Fold Napkins into Bats

Step 1 Bat Napkins

Use an iron or your hands to smooth the napkins and remove any stubborn wrinkles. A few wrinkles are ok, as you can see from the one below!

Fold the napkin diagonally to form a triangle.

Fold the napkin again to make a smaller triangle.

Step 4

Fold up the pointed bottom so that 2 or 3 inches (5-7.5 centimeters) extend past the long flat side of the napkin.

Turn under about 1 1/2 inches (3.8 centimeters) of the point.

Step 6

Place a finger on the bottom middle of the napkin. Fold up a wing on the left side.

Fold up a wing on the right side. Smooth the wings so they lie flat.

Using your finger, press slightly downward and pull out to make a small indentation in the middle of the “head.”

Optional

  1. Add self-adhesive clear crystal rhinestones for eyes.
  2. Experiment with other napkin colors to match your Halloween party!
