Create a Beautiful Mother’s Day Table in Light Blue and Pink

Create a memorable Mother’s Day table to transform your celebration into an occasion filled with love and appreciation. By embracing a beautiful palette of light blue and shades of pink, you can create an inviting atmosphere that honors the special women in your life.

Creating a Stunning Spring Table for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is the perfect occasion to celebrate the incredible women in our lives. This year, why not create an unforgettable dining experience with a beautifully set table in light blue and shades of pink? Here are ideas to help you design a small or large table with tablecloth, flowers, and candles.

Choosing the Tablecloth for the Mother’s Day Table

Begin your table setting with a block-printed tablecloth. The one pictured is decorated with pink and cranberry-colored flowers against a light blue background. If you have a round table, you can fold the tablecloth in half and place it on the table, letting the corner points hang over the sides. This fabric will bring a fresh, springtime atmosphere to your table, providing a vivid contrast that highlights the lovely pastel colors I incorporated. Centerpiece Details for the Mother’s Day Table

At the heart of your table, place a vase filled with stunning flowers in varying shades of pink to complement the colors in the tablecloth. It is easiest to find pink roses; however, if you have a garden with pink peonies, consider cutting and using these beauties instead. (See the note below for how to rid your fresh-cut peonies of ants.) Other flowers to consider using are pink ranunculus, dahlias, hydrangeas, and lilies. Faux flowers are also an option, as many artificial flowers are almost indistinguishable from their live counterparts.

Wrap the neck of the vase with a light blue satin ribbon for an elegant touch that complements the overall color scheme perfectly. This centerpiece will add both height and color to the table.

How to Get Rid of Ants on Peonies

Ants love to roam peonies to feed on the nectar they secrete. Before bringing fresh, garden-cut peonies inside, place them upside down in a bucket filled with water and a drop of liquid dishwashing soap. Gently swish them and then leave them for about 20-30 minutes. Later, remove them from the water and gently shake off the excess water. Check the flowers to ensure all the ants are removed, brushing off any that may still be clinging to them. When cutting peonies, leave the stems long to make it easier to handle them in the water bucket.

Dinnerware Essentials for a Mother’s Day Table

Opt for white dinnerware for this Mother’s Day table, as it will complement the busy tablecloth without clashing. Pierced dinner plates are a pretty option because they have a delicate, airy feel. However, if you have a dessert plate in colors to complement this table setting, stack them on top of the dinner plates. Finally, top the plates with solid bright pink napkins secured with gold band napkin rings, adding a dash of luxury and contrast.

Statement Silverware and Glassware

There are many options for flatware. Brushed gold would coordinate with the napkin rings. However, silver is classic. Choose gold flatware paired with light blue or silver, featuring pink handles, to elevate the visual appeal of your table setting. The colored handles add brightness and richness, making the dining experience feel extra special. If you prefer colored flatware but don’t want to invest in a color scheme for a single occasion, consider using plastic flatware as an alternative. Click for a blue option.

I used vintage goblets with light blue stems for the glassware, which enhanced the color palette and added sophistication to the table setting. Here is an alternative blue choice for a modern look.

Candlelight Ambiance for the Mother’s Day Table

I incorporated four light blue glass-blown candleholders—two tall and two short—nestled amongst the centerpiece decor. Fill these holders with light pink candles to create a soft, inviting glow that will warm the space as the sun sets. However, candlelight is not only for nighttime ambiance; it can also add an inviting daytime element perfect for a Mother’s Day celebration.

Charming Lighting Touches

I included two cordless lamps topped with light blue wicker shades to bring everything together. These lamps will provide warm, gentle light, perfect for a spring evening meal, and ensure your guests feel comfortable and relaxed. Note that cordless lamps are available online at many prices and colors.

Finishing Touches with Flowers

Complete your table with flowers in two clear glass-blown vases. Use leftovers from the center arrangement or fill the smaller vases with garden flowers such as pink knockout roses and sprigs of fern. The lovely pink blooms will echo the colors in your centerpiece, while the green fern tips will add a modern touch. I placed these arrangements at either end of the table to visually balance the setting.

A Beautiful Celebration

With this thoughtful arrangement, your Mother’s Day table will radiate beauty and warmth. The light blue and pink palette, exquisite tableware, and lighting will create an atmosphere of love and gratitude. Include a handwritten note or a thoughtful card to accompany each place setting, expressing your appreciation for each guest. This table will make for a memorable celebration of the special mothers in your lives!
