Set a magical blue Christmas table to celebrate the season’s joy with family and friends. The serene and enchanting atmosphere it creates will set the stage for cherished holiday memories.
How to Create a Blue Christmas Table
This holiday season, I designed a classic and elegant Christmas tablescape. I aimed to blend the timeless pairing of blue and white with festive elements to create the ideal backdrop for my holiday gatherings.
Tablecloth and Dinnerware for Blue Christmas Table
I assembled this blue and white Christmas table by selecting a block-printed blue and white tablecloth (you can find a similar one here) as the foundation for my tablescape. To enhance the look, I added white placemats and chose blue-rimmed white plates.
Drinkware for Blue Christmas Table
I incorporated vintage silver dessert compotes and wine goblets to bring an elegant touch to the table. To introduce a splash of blue, I used blue acrylic glasses for water and iced tea.
Napkins and Napkin Rings
To add a festive flair, I used blue napkins with white dove napkin rings, which added a whimsical element to the table settings. I made the napkin rings with silver curtain rings and attached white wired pick birds. I wound the wire around the rings so the bird would sit on top. I placed the ring around the napkins and tucked in a spring of faux evergreen pine between the napkins and the rings.
Flowers for Blue Christmas Table
I arranged and scattered small, silver mint julep vases of white flowers to create a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The contrast of the blue tablecloth with the white flowers instantly set the stage for the rest of the decor.
Centerpiece Elements
Additionally, I incorporated blue and white porcelain chinoiserie trees and a white, snowy centerpiece tree to bring a sense of enchantment to the tablescape. I placed white tealight lamps, white cone glass trees, and glass candles tied with blue ribbons down the center of the table. To highlight and brighten the center of the table, I wove white pinecone string lights between the center items.
Blue Candleholders
I added height and light to the centerpiece by placing blue glass candleholders with white candles, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The soft glow of the candles added a magical touch to the overall look and feel of the table.
To prevent candle drips, I used faux battery-operated tapers in the candleholders. Not only did this prevent drips, but it ensured the candles would stay lit all night without burning too low. Lit faux candles are not as atmospheric as real candle flames, but they are safe around children and don’t raise the temperature in the room. You can buy tapers with a “wiggly” flame that gives them the charm of real candles.
Christmas Tree
In the background, a beautifully decorated Christmas tree featured blue and white ornaments, along with an elegant blue embroidered bow and ribbon, complementing the blue and white table perfectly. This tree not only enhanced the aesthetic but also added a touch of grandeur to the space, flawlessly harmonizing with the overall theme.
Snowy Birch Trees
To complement the magical blue and white Christmas table, I placed a white grouping of birch trees with delicate bluebirds on a sideboard next to the table. This added an element of nature-inspired charm to the overall decor, enhancing the winter wonderland feel. This blue and white Christmas tablescape came together beautifully, creating a magical and inviting atmosphere for all my holiday celebrations.
Add an Unexpected Color to the Blue Christmas Table
You can add an unexpected color to a blue and white table by introducing a traditional red color for splendid results. I removed the vintage silver goblets and replaced them with vibrant red goblets to add a splash of contrasting color. The result was as beautiful as the blue and white table but added an eye-catching and traditional Christmas color.
I chose to add red goblets to the blue and white Christmas table to tie it in with a red Christmas tree in the kitchen next to the dining room. The red goblets were all I needed to let the red kitchen color flow into the next room. They have pinecones cut into the glass that ties in with the white pinecone string lights and pine needles in the napkin rings. Another way to introduce red in place of goblets is to scatter solid red ornaments in the center of the table.
Wishing you all a merry and bright holiday season filled with love, laughter, and enchanting moments at the table.
