White Shivers Cocktail: A Spooky Delight
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to serve your guests a creative and delicious drink. The White Shivers Cocktail combines the tropical flavors of coconut with a beautiful yet eerie presentation. See how easy it is to craft this spooky concoction, perfect for your Halloween festivities!

Ingredients for White Shivers Cocktail
The White Shivers uses only a handful of ingredients.
Ice: The main ingredient that will give your drink its chilling quality.
Cream of Coconut: This creamy ingredient adds a rich coconut flavor. It is thick and sweet and should not be confused with coconut milk in a can or carton.
Coconut Rum: Coconut rum adds a delicious kick to this drink. Add as little or as much as you prefer, although the recipe lists a recommended amount. If you want to make a mocktail version, omit the rum.
Black Sugar Crystals: For an eye-catching rim that adds a touch of elegance. Change the color of sugar crystals to match your party theme.
Honey: This will affix the black sugar crystals to the rim.
Red Maraschino Cherry Juice (optional): Just a splash for a creepy Halloween twist!

Preparation Steps
Follow these steps to make a White Shivers Cocktail.
Prepare Your Glass
Begin by preparing your glass. Using a food paintbrush or your finger, paint the rim of your glass with honey or corn syrup. Then dip it into a plate of black sugar crystals to create a beautiful, dark rim.
Blend the Ingredients
In a blender, combine the ice, cream of coconut, and coconut rum. If you’re opting for a mocktail, simply skip the rum. If the mixture is too thick, add a few teaspoons of water until it’s blendable. If it is too thin, add more ice cubes and blend until you reach your desired consistency.
Add the Cherry Juice
For a spooky Halloween aesthetic, add a splash of red maraschino cherry juice or grenadine to the top of the drink to give the cocktail an eerie red hue.

Serving Your White Shivers Cocktail
Once blended to perfection, pour your White Shivers cocktail into the prepared glass and enjoy the effect of the dark rim against the white body of the drink. You can make these drinks ahead and place them in the freezer briefly before serving them. This drink also works well as a frosty white cocktail for wintertime.

White Shivers Cocktail (and Mocktail)
Equipment
- blender or immersion blender
Ingredients
- 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) coconut rum (approximately 30 milliliters) Omit this ingredient for a mocktail.
- 3 tablespoons cream of coconut* (approximately 44 milliliters)
- 1 handful ice cubes (approximately 5-6 large cubes)
- honey or corn syrup (optional for rim of the glass)
- black sugar crystals (optional for rim of the glass)
- maraschino cherry juice (optional)
Instructions
- Add the sugar crystals to the rim of the glass before you make the drinks. Use your finger or a small paintbrush to paint honey (or corn syrup) around the outside of the glass about 1/4 inch (6 mm) down from the rim. It should be a thin coat so it doesn’t run. Pour sugar crystals into a small bowl and stick the glass top into the crystals, swirling the glass to coat.
- Add the rum, cream of coconut, and ice cubes to a blender and blend until the ice is like snow. This is a stiff cocktail and should not be runny. Add additional ice cubes if necessary to get a stiff consistency.
- Pour the cocktail into the prepared glass and serve with a straw. Add a splash of maraschino cherry juice to the top of the drink for a “bloody” Halloween drink.
