How to Make Cinnamon Apple-Infused Vodka

Try making this cinnamon apple-infused vodka for cocktails or other recipes using apple-flavored vodka. It is easy to make, and the flavor will develop in about a week.

Easy to Make

Many cocktails call for flavor-infused alcohol. Rather than purchasing flavored liquor for one recipe, make your own. This recipe for cinnamon apple-flavored vodka only takes five minutes to prepare. You can buy one bottle of plain vodka, use half of it to make a small batch of cinnamon apple vodka, and then use the other half for other cocktails. (Click here to go to the Cinnamon Apple Moscow Mule recipe that uses this vodka.)

Cinnamon Apple-Infused Vodka

Three Ingredients for Cinnamon Apple-Infused Vodka

This recipe uses only three ingredients to make cinnamon-apple flavored vodka: an apple, cinnamon stick, and plain vodka. Always use a good quality vodka for the best results. However, this recipe will not use an entire bottle, so plenty will be left for other things.

Use a Mason Jar for Cinnamon Apple-Infused Vodka

Make cinnamon apple-infused vodka by cutting an apple into small wedges and placing them into a Mason or canning jar. The size of the jar used depends on the amount of vodka you want to infuse. If you are having a party and need a lot of vodka, use large glass jars. Or, if you need a small amount of flavored vodka, use a pint or small jar.

Ensure the apple wedges fit easily into the glass jar so they can be removed easily when the vodka is ready. Add the cinnamon stick, breaking it into small pieces if it is too large to fit. Then, fill the glass jar to the lid threads with vodka, as shown below.

It is normal for the apples to turn brown during the infusion process.

Wait Seven Days

Add the lid to the jar and place it into the refrigerator. Leave it there for seven days. You can remove the cinnamon stick sooner than seven days if you want a milder cinnamon taste. After seven days, the vodka will be amber-colored and be ready to use. Remove the apples and cinnamon and strain it through a cheesecloth, coffee filter, or fine-mesh sieve to filter out any apple bits. Enjoy!

Equipment

  • 1 16-ounce pint glass jar (or another glass jar with a tight-fitting lid)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Grey Goose Vodka (or other good quality vodka)
  • 1 medium-sized fresh apple such as Gala, Honeycrisp or Fuji
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  • Wash the apple and remove the stem. Slice the apple (without peeling) into 8 or more wedges and place them into the jar.
  • Place the cinnamon stick into the jar.
  • Pour the vodka into the jar until it reaches the jar rim. It should cover all the apples. Put the lid on the glass jar.
  • Place the jar into the refrigerator and leave for 7 days. Remove the cinnamon stick after 24 hours for a milder cinnamon taste. For a richer cinnamon taste, remove after 3 days.
  • On day 7, remove the apple slices from the jar. Then pour the vodka through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any apple bits. Store the vodka in the refrigerator in the same glass jar.

Notes

Yield

This recipe makes about 1 cup of cinnamon apple vodka. You can also use a quart jar to double the amount. Cut up two apples and place them in the quart jar. Add 1 cinnamon stick and fill the glass jar with vodka, covering all the apples.

Brown Apples

The apples will turn brown during the 7 days. This will not hurt the final product.

Watch for Mold or an Unpleasant Smell

As with all homemade items, do not use the vodka if a mold appears on the apples or if it develops an unpleasant smell. The final product should be amber in color and clear after straining any apple bits.

Conversion to Milliliters

A sixteen-ounce pint jar is approximately 500 ml.
