1 16-ounce pint glass jar (or another glass jar with a tight-fitting lid)
Ingredients
1cupGrey Goose Vodka(or other good quality vodka)
1medium-sizedfresh apple such as Gala, Honeycrisp or Fuji
1cinnamon stick
Instructions
Wash the apple and remove the stem. Slice the apple (without peeling) into 8 or more wedges and place them into the jar.
Place the cinnamon stick into the jar.
Pour the vodka into the jar until it reaches the jar rim. It should cover all the apples. Put the lid on the glass jar.
Place the jar into the refrigerator and leave for 7 days. Remove the cinnamon stick after 24 hours for a milder cinnamon taste. For a richer cinnamon taste, remove after 3 days.
On day 7, remove the apple slices from the jar. Then pour the vodka through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any apple bits. Store the vodka in the refrigerator in the same glass jar.
Notes
Yield
This recipe makes about 1 cup of cinnamon apple vodka. You can also use a quart jar to double the amount. Cut up two apples and place them in the quart jar. Add 1 cinnamon stick and fill the glass jar with vodka, covering all the apples.
Brown Apples
The apples will turn brown during the 7 days. This will not hurt the final product.
Watch for Mold or an Unpleasant Smell
As with all homemade items, do not use the vodka if a mold appears on the apples or if it develops an unpleasant smell. The final product should be amber in color and clear after straining any apple bits.
