How to Make Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade

When you desire a sweet, lemony frosted lemonade shake like those served at Chick-fil-A, save yourself a trip out and make one at home. It is so easy you will wonder why you weren’t always making them at home!

Two Ingredients in Frosted Lemonade

The great thing about this recipe is that you only need two ingredients! Use vanilla ice cream and lemonade. There is no need to make homemade ice cream or squeeze lemons for lemonade because you use store-bought vanilla and premade lemonade. However, if you want to make homemade ice cream and lemonade, they will work well for this recipe too.

Use a Blender for Frosted Lemonade

Use a blender to make frosted lemonade because it will chop up and smooth any ice cream lumps, and ensure that the lemonade is mixed well with the ice cream. If you don’t have a blender, use an immersion blender, food processor, or a small electric chopper (and blend it in small batches).

The Ice Cream to Lemonade Ratio

Frosted lemonade is made with a 2:1 ratio of ice cream to lemonade. Use your favorite brand of vanilla ice cream. Use store-bought lemonade such as Simply Lemonade. The recipe also works with a light lemonade and ice cream with less sugar. In addition, try limeade in place of lemonade for another flavorful treat.

Using Homemade Ice Cream

If you prefer using homemade ice cream, it is best to freeze it until it’s hard and then mix it with lemonade. This will prevent the frosted lemonade from becoming too melted after being blended. If it does become too soft, place it in the freezer to harden it. If necessary, freeze it and blend it again in the blender.

Can You Freeze Leftovers?

You can freeze leftovers and eat them like ice cream straight out of the freezer. Or, defrost leftovers for a few minutes and blend in the blender again.

Boozy Shamrock Shake

You can make a boozy Shamrock Shake by adding your favorite alcohol. Add 4 ounces (2 ounces per shake) of your favorite alcohol. Ideas include vodka, creme de menthe, Irish cream, or mint rum. If using a mint-flavored alcohol, use less mint extract. Sample, and then add more extract if necessary for your preference.
