- 1 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls or your favorite cheese
Add olive oil to a medium-sized bowl. Add the red pepper flakes, oregano, parsley, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and salt and stir to blend. Then, add the mozzarella balls and coat with the olive oil mixture. Marinate in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or overnight.
Store in the fridge in a covered, airtight container. Remove it before serving so it comes to room temperature. Oil-marinated cheese can be kept in the refrigerator for about a week in an airtight container. Do not store it on the countertop to keep bacteria from growing.
Calories
The calories for this appetizer are an approximation because the calculation includes all the olive oil. You will have leftover oil after the cheese is eaten. You can use it for dipping bread or in a salad dressing.
