Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups whipping cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste (or the seeds from a vanilla bean)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions
 

  • Mix all ingredients together, stirring well. Make sure all the dairy ingredients are very cold.
  • Place in an ice cream freezer and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Notes

Substituting a Vanilla Bean for Vanilla Bean Paste

If using a vanilla bean, cut the bean lengthwise. Use the knife blade to scrape out all the seeds and stir them into the ice cream mixture before freezing.
