- 1 cup Grey Goose Vodka (or other good quality vodka)
- 2 cups watermelon, cubed
Cut the watermelon into cubes and fit them into the glass jar.
Pour the vodka into the jar until it reaches the rim. It should cover all the watermelon. Put the lid on the glass jar.
Place the jar into the refrigerator and leave for 7 days.
On day 7, remove the watermelon from the jar. Then, pour the vodka through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any melon bits. Store the vodka in the refrigerator in the same glass jar.
Yield
This recipe makes about 1 cup of melon vodka. You can also use a quart jar to double the amount. Cut up enough watermelon to fill your container, and then add vodka.
Watch for Mold or an Unpleasant Smell
As with all homemade items, do not use the vodka if a mold appears on the watermelon or if it develops an unpleasant smell. After straining any melon bits, the final product should be light pink/blush to clear color.
Conversion to Milliliters
A sixteen-ounce pint jar is approximately 500 ml.
