  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 jalapeños (washed, cut lengthwise with stem, membranes & seeds removed)
Jalapeño Limeade
  • 1 ½ cups fresh lime juice
  • 2 cups simple jalapeño syrup
  • 6 ¼ cups water (1 1/2 liters or 50 ounces)

Instructions

Simple Jalapeño Syrup
  • Add the water, sugar, and jalapeños to a pan and heat over medium until the sugar dissolves and the mixture simmers, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and let steep for 30 minutes. Then remove the jalapeño and discard.
Jalapeño Limeade
  • In a large pitcher, add the jalapeño-sugar mixture and lime juice, stirring well.
  • Add the water and stir. Cover and refrigerate for a couple of hours before serving. Limeade will sweeten upon sitting. Stir before serving.

Notes

Reducing Sweetness

If too sweet, add a little more water.

Substitutions

To make a spicier version, do not remove the jalapeno membranes and seeds. Taste-test the syrup before the 30-minute steeping time is finished, in case it's getting spicier than you would like.
Add sparkling mineral water in place of the plain water for a sparkling jalapeño limeade.

Cocktails

This jalapeño syrup can be used for cocktails.
