Ingredients
  

  • (1) 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Your choice of toppings for rolling truffles in. Ideas include finely chopped nuts, powdered sugar, colored granulated sugar, toffee bits, cocoa powder, chopped peppermint, sprinkles, or coconut.

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  • Then, in a microwave bowl, melt the chocolate on high for 30 seconds. Stir and repeat the process until melted.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into the bowl with the cream cheese.
  • Add vanilla and stir on low speed until thoroughly mixed.
  • Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until cool enough to roll into 1-inch balls.
  • Roll the truffle balls in the small bowls of your chosen toppings. This recipe will make 30-40 truffles.

Notes

Flavors for Truffles

Truffles can be made with different flavorings, such as peppermint, almond, or orange. Omit the vanilla and substitute your favorite.
