3cupsold white bread, cubed(works best with yeast breads such as sandwich, rolls, or brioche)
3tablespoonsbutter
¼teaspooncinnamon
1tablespoonpowdered sugar
Instructions
Cut old bread into cubes.
Melt butter on medium-high heat in a nonstick skillet. Add cinnamon and stir to mix.
Add bread cubes and stir to coat with butter. Continue stirring until the bread starts to brown and is toasted. Turn off the heat and sprinkle powdered sugar evenly over the croutons. Stir until all the sugar is melted and the croutons are coated. Serve Immediately.
To use leftover croutons the next day or to give them a crunchy rather than a chewy texture, preheat the oven to 300°F. Spread the croutons out on a baking sheet. Place them in the oven and turn off the heat. Let them dry out overnight or for several hours. Store in a covered container.
