4cupsold white bread, cubed(sandwich, brioche, or gluten-free, etc)
4tablespoonssalted butter
1teaspooncinnamon
2tablespoonsgranulated sugar
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325°F.
Cut old bread into cubes, large or small, your choice. Add them to a large bowl.
Cut butter into 4 pieces and add to a microwave-safe measuring cup. Melt for 1 minute on high or until melted. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Stir until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
Slowly drizzle part of the butter mixture over the bread cubes. Stir the bread to expose areas without butter. Drizzle more butter. Stir and repeat.
Spread the croutons out on a baking sheet in a single layer. Place them in the oven, turn off the oven, and let them dry out for 2-3 hours. Store in a covered container.
Notes
Chewy vs Crunchy Croutons
If you prefer chewy croutons rather than crunchy, eat them after removing them from the skillet and omit the final step of heating them in the oven.
