Jalapeno Limeade

by elyn_ryn

Spicy and sweet, this limeade has a little kick to it. Made with a jalapeno-infused simple syrup, this limeade can have a subtle jalapeno taste or a stronger taste – it is up to you!

The simple syrup for this recipe can also be used in cocktails whenever you want a little hot pepper flavor.

This syrup recipe is mild because all the seeds and membranes are removed. If you want a stronger jalapeno taste, don’t remove them.

You can also steep the jalapenos for a longer time than listed to get more jalapeno flavor. However, always be sure to taste test the syrup to make sure it is not getting too strongly flavored.

This limeade gets sweeter as it sits in the refrigerator. If too sweet, just add a little water to balance the sweetness. Hope you enjoy this refreshing jalapeno limeade!

Jalapeno Limeade
  1. In a large pitcher, add the jalapeno sugar mixture and the lime juice and stir well.
  2. Add the water and stir. Cover and let sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before serving. Limeade will sweeten upon sitting. Stir before serving.
Recipe Notes

If too sweet, add a little more water.

To make a spicier version, do not remove the jalapeno membranes and seeds.  Taste test the syrup before the 30-minute steeping time is finished in case the syrup is getting hotter than you would like.

This jalapeno syrup can be used for cocktails.

Add sparkling mineral water in place of the plain water for a sparkling jalapeno limeade.
