Breakaway from the traditional orange pumpkin Halloween decorations and try a black and white color scheme. This Halloween table is very similar to the post “Halloween in Elegant Black and White” and has many of the same elements. Nonetheless, it has a different vibe from the other table, so click here to see Halloween in Elegant Black and White.
Spray Paint the Pumpkins
Spray paint mini pumpkins matte black. To keep the stems natural-looking, tape them with painter’s tape before spraying them with paint and wait until the paint is completely dry before removing the tape.
Spray Paint Evergreen Branches
Cut and paint black evergreen branches such as gardenia, holly, or camellia to use as a filler in the middle of the table. Use the larger leaves as place cards and write the guests’ names using a silver or gold Sharpie pen.
Use Small Candleholders for Vases
Use small glass candle holders as flower vases and cut the flower stems very short to fit into the glasses. These flowers are white spider mums. The flower heads are larger enough to fill a small glass candle holder and make it look full.
Use Tulle
Use inexpensive black tulle to wrap up white pumpkins to give them an eerie look. Sit a pumpkin in the middle of a square of tulle two to three times as large as the pumpkin. Gather the tulle around the pumpkin and tie a white or black ribbon around the base of the stem.
Use Votive Candles
This black and white tablescape is a little eerie and has a Halloween vibe. You can soften the look with votive candles (real or battery-operated) to give it a soft yellow or orange glow.
Brighten the Table with Napkins
Use white cocktail napkins to help brighten a dark table. Sometimes a table can get too dark, making it scary instead of festive. You can lighten a too dark table with white napkins. I used white cocktail ghost napkins. They were cute instead of scary, so it lightened both the table and the mood.
Tie the Flatware with Bows
Try using ribbon for tying a bow around the flatware. Use white ribbon to brighten the table or black to make it more gloomy for Halloween.
Black Goblets
I love using black goblets at Halloween because they are fun and people like to drink out of them because they novel. Sometimes you can find inexpensive plastic ones at online stores and local party stores.
Easy-to-Make Tablecloth
This table has a black mesh cheesecloth-type tablecloth. I made it from several small pieces of Halloween mesh that are sold at dollar stores in the fall. Click here to see how easy and inexpensive it was to make this tablecloth. No sewing necessary!
Spray Paint Tree Branches
To give your room an eerie atmosphere, spray paint tree branches using black flat spray paint. For added soft light, weave fairy lights up the painted branches.
